Training

Claire was first introduced to dressage as a sport when she was fifteen years old. At the time she owned a very temperamental thoroughbred cross quarter horse who was in need of some proper schooling! Within six months Claire was competing successfully at novice and elementary level and took the horse to Goodwood. Her love of the sport was instant but having very little money she purchased a number of horses with different problems and gained a wealth of knowledge and experience at producing them successfully through the levels. Claire has continued to produce her own horses right from the very basic levels up towards grand-prix and now has a growing list of clients progressing through the levels too.

In 2012, due to the success and demand at Ingold Lodge Equestrian, Claire retired from the Civil Service after 19 years to become a dressage trainer which she also does alongside the daily management and care of horses at Ingold Lodge Equestrian.

Claire is available for training at all levels both on site and freelance, and is happy to travel out for group clinics, yards and riding clubs.

She is particularly supportive and understanding to those in the early levels of training, where the right guidance and understanding of the training scales is paramount to success and enjoyment for both horse and rider!

Standard one to one fee is £35 per lesson on site at Ingold Lodge Equestrian. Please contact Claire for clinic prices or lessons off site.

PassimPassim was a 16.2 British bred Hanovarian gelding by Pascal, born in 1996 he was also half brother to the Grand Prix horse Spring Pascal ridden by Samantha Thurman-Baker and trained by Carl Hester.  Passim was trained and produced by Claire from 5 years old.

He competed successfully at Inter 1 level dressage but worked to Grand Prix at home with tempi changes, half pass, passage, some basic piaffe, and canter pirouettes established.  Passim was a gentle horse to ride..  Sadly he passed away at the end of January 2016.

School masters may be available on request.

My sport is eventing, but I wanted to improve and progress the dressage element and took my horse to Claire for training. She has done a wonderful job with us! My horse tends to be too sharp off the leg and has a tendency to hollow and rush off with me in the flatwork. Claire has helped me resolve these issues and he now works in a lovely soft frame with confidence and harmony. His paces have really progressed too. We are now competing successfully at medium level dressage and he shows a talent for half pass and changes that we never imagined.

I just wanted to say thank you for helping me with Bernie through a very difficult nine months. You have taken the time to explain in depth, and had the patience for us to become a team again. We have now recently returned to local dressage competitions and are reaping the rewards in the way of rosettes and prize money. But most of all the satisfaction of having my Mr Bernie Wyckham back with me.
Claire thank you
